Determine Obligations

Review your Decree to determine your post-divorce obligations. Do you need to refinance a house, sell property, transfer funds? Know what you need to do and your timeframe to get it done.

Revise Estate Documents

Re-evaluate and revise your estate plan to reflect who you want to be named as your Personal Representative, heirs(s), and Power of Attorney.

Also consider reviewing any documentation that refers to beneficiaries, including life insurance policies, financial accounts and emergency contact designations.

See a Financial Advisor

Every divorce ends with spouses leaving the marriage with less individually than they had together.

Both parties should meet with a financial planner following a divorce to create or update their financial plan and obtain professional guidance on how to manage their financial portfolio going forward.
