Bri Cotton
Associate Attorney - Omaha
Brianna "Bri" Cotton graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2016 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Public Relations. She then attended the University of Michigan Law School, where she worked as a student attorney in the Michigan Innocence Clinic for a year and was actively involved in the law school community, including founding the Women of Color Coalition and sitting on several student organization boards.
Following her December 2019 graduation, Bri began legal practice in complex commercial litigation before spending two years in post-conviction death penalty defense, making sure her clients felt heard and had someone to be their voice. In early 2026, she joined McGill Law and transitioned into family law—a natural fit that uses the same high-stakes advocacy skills from death penalty defense and is still fundamentally about fighting for someone's freedom and future.
Bri believes in collaboration when possible and standing firm on what matters most when it's not. As a Black woman, she brings a perspective and understanding shaped by her own experiences. She's committed to supporting marginalized communities and believes everyone deserves fierce, compassionate advocacy during difficult times.
Outside the office, she's a self-proclaimed foodie who loves discovering something good and new—whether that's a great craft cocktail, a new restaurant, or a live show of her favorite artists'. When she's not out exploring, she's probably at home binge-watching a new series or reading manga. Wherever she goes, her Shiba Inu Kiko isn't far behind—including at the office, where she's become a beloved member of the McGill Law team.
